The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) supervises the use of recombinant DNA and handles other biological safety and hazard issues in experiments conducted at Brigham Young University at a BSL2 or 3, such as constructing and handling DNA molecules in organisms.

On September 21, 2020, the Presidents' Council approved revisions to the renamed Research Misconduct Policy. The revised policy has now been published and is found here (after signing in with your BYU NetID and password): The revisions align policy with current federal regulations and notify university personnel of the process that will be followed when BYU receives allegations of research misconduct.

This summer, ORCA underwent restructuring and renaming. It is now called the Research Administration Office (RAO) and Jason Jay was appointed as the new Associate Director for Research Compliance over IACUC and IBC. This change will provide extra administrative support for both compliance committees and allows for future expansion and growth. Keep those biosafety applications coming, we are ready for them!
