Resources
A biosafety manual is required for all BSL2 work and higher. This template biosafety plan is provided as a resource.
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard
Required for all personnel working with human blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM), this annual training ensures compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) and supports IBC oversight of exposure control, containment practices, and PPE use in research and teaching settings.
Infectious Agent Exposure Protocol
This protocol is required for all BSL2 organisms and higher. It should be completed for all BSL2 organisms and should be part of the biosafety plan.
This document applies to NIH grants and agreements for research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules (including human gene transfer research).
NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules
This document specifies the biosafety practices and containment principles for constructing and handling: (i) recombinant nucleic acid molecules, (ii) synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including those that are chemically or otherwise modified but can base pair with naturally occurring nucleic acid molecules, and (iii) cells, organisms, and viruses containing such molecules.
